Getting Started with the MarCloud's ROI Audit

MarCloud's ROI Audit connects to your HubSpot portal, analyses your setup across five key areas, and generates a scored audit report with actionable recommendations. Every finding is mapped to the MarCloud ROI Framework - a five-phase methodology that guides businesses from technical foundation through to AI-powered marketing.

This guide covers everything you need to install, run, and get value from the app.

What does the MarCloud's ROI Audit do?

MarCloud's ROI Audit reads data from your HubSpot portal and scores it against best-practice thresholds across five phases:

  1. Implementation & Integration - Is your technical foundation solid? Are integrations healthy?
  2. Insights & Data Readiness - Is your data clean, structured, and ready to drive personalised campaigns?
  3. Intelligent Sales & Marketing Execution - Are your automation tools and pipelines working effectively?
  4. Reporting & Campaign Attribution - Can your business prove marketing ROI?
  5. AI-Powered Marketing - Are you leveraging AI to increase productivity?

Each check produces a RAG (Red, Amber, Green) status:

  • Green - Healthy. No action needed.
  • Amber - Partially set up or needs improvement. Includes a recommendation.
  • Red - Not set up, broken, or a critical issue. Includes an urgent recommendation with business impact.

The output is a branded PDF report with every finding, your portal data, and structured recommendations you can act on immediately.

If your portal has Salesforce connected, a Premium subscription unlocks deep Salesforce integration analysis including sync errors, field mapping coverage, and data flow health.

Requirements

  • A HubSpot account (any tier - Free, Starter, Professional, or Enterprise)
  • Super Admin or App Marketplace Access permissions in HubSpot (required to authorise the app)
  • An account on audit.marcloudconsulting.com

Some checks require HubSpot Professional or Enterprise to return full data. If your portal is on a Free or Starter plan, those checks will be noted in your report as requiring a higher tier - they won't affect your overall audit score.

Step 1 - Create your account

  1. Visit audit.marcloudconsulting.com and click Sign up.
  2. Enter your name, email address, and a password.
  3. By signing up, you agree to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
  4. Once registered, you'll land on your dashboard.

New accounts include one free audit so you can see the app in action before purchasing.

Step 2 - Connect your HubSpot portal

  1. From your dashboard, click Connect HubSpot Portal.
  2. You'll be redirected to HubSpot's authorisation screen.
  3. Select the HubSpot account you want to audit from the account picker.
  4. Review the permissions the app is requesting. MarCloud's ROI Audit requests read-only access to your HubSpot data - it never writes to, modifies, or deletes anything in your portal.
  5. Click Connect app to authorise.
  6. You'll be redirected back to your dashboard with the portal now connected.

What data does the app access?

The app reads data from the following HubSpot objects and settings:

  • Contacts, Companies, and Deals (record counts, property values, lifecycle stages)
  • Workflows (count and status by type)
  • Marketing Emails (performance metrics)
  • Forms (submission counts)
  • Pipelines (deal and ticket pipeline structure and performance)
  • Users (roles, teams, permissions - for access control analysis)
  • Settings (tracking code, domains, email preferences, GDPR configuration)
  • Integrations (connected apps, Salesforce sync status if applicable)

All data is read-only. The app does not create, update, or delete any records in your HubSpot portal.

Step 3 - Run an audit

  1. From your dashboard, click Run Audit on the connected portal.
  2. The audit typically takes 1–3 minutes depending on your portal size.
  3. A progress indicator shows which phase is being analysed.
  4. Once complete, your results page will display all findings with RAG scores.

Each audit run uses one of your available audits. Your remaining count is shown on your dashboard.

Step 4 - Read your report

Your audit results are presented in two ways:

Web view - An interactive results page showing all checks grouped by ROI Framework phase. Click into any finding to see the detail.

PDF report - A branded, downloadable PDF report structured around the five phases of the ROI Framework. This is the report you can share with stakeholders, use in board presentations, or send to your team.

Every Amber and Red finding includes a structured recommendation:

  • What we found - A plain English description using your actual portal data.
  • Why it matters - The business impact and what it's costing you.
  • What to do next - Specific, actionable steps to fix the issue.
  • ROI Framework Phase - Where this sits in the broader journey.

Green findings include a brief confirmation of what's working well.

Step 5 - Re-audit and track progress

The real value of the MarCloud's ROI Audit comes from re-auditing over time:

  • Audit 1 - Establishes your baseline. Where are you today?
  • Audit 2 (e.g. 3 months later) - Shows what you've fixed and what's still outstanding.
  • Audit 3 (e.g. 6 months later) - Demonstrates your ROI Framework maturity improvement.

Your audit history page shows all previous audits with trend charts, so you can see exactly how your portal health is progressing.

Salesforce Integration Analysis (Premium)

If your HubSpot portal has Salesforce connected, upgrading to Premium unlocks a deeper layer of analysis including:

  • Salesforce sync error detection and classification
  • Field mapping coverage across Contacts, Companies, and Deals
  • Integration ecosystem health
  • Data flow direction and overwrite risk assessment

The Salesforce analysis is unlocked at the account level - once enabled, all future audits include it automatically. Visit the pricing page for details.

Disconnect your HubSpot portal

If you want to disconnect a HubSpot portal from the MarCloud's ROI Audit:

  1. Log in to your HubSpot account.
  2. Navigate to SettingsIntegrationsConnected Apps.
  3. Find MarCloud's ROI Audit in the list.
  4. Click ActionsUninstall.

Disconnecting removes the app's access to your HubSpot data. Your existing audit reports and history in the MarCloud's ROI Audit app are retained - they won't be deleted.

To reconnect the same portal later, simply click Connect HubSpot Portal on your dashboard and go through the authorisation flow again.

Uninstall the app

To fully uninstall the MarCloud's ROI Audit:

  1. Disconnect the app from your HubSpot portal (see above).
  2. If you wish to delete your MarCloud's ROI Audit account entirely, contact us at support@marcloudconsulting.com and we'll remove your account and all associated data.

Frequently asked questions

Is my data safe?

Yes. The app uses HubSpot's official OAuth 2.0 authorisation - the same security standard used by all HubSpot Marketplace apps. We request read-only access and never write to your portal. Your audit data is stored securely and is only accessible to your account. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

How long does an audit take?

Typically 1–3 minutes. Larger portals (50,000+ contacts) may take slightly longer.

Which HubSpot plans are supported?

All plans - Free, Starter, Professional, and Enterprise. Some checks return richer data on Professional and Enterprise plans. Checks that require a higher tier are clearly marked in your report.

Can I audit multiple HubSpot portals?

Yes. You can connect multiple portals to your account. Each audit run uses one of your available audits regardless of which portal you're auditing.

Do I need Salesforce to use the app?

No. The core audit covers your HubSpot portal comprehensively. Salesforce analysis is an optional Premium add-on for portals that have Salesforce connected.

What happens when I run out of audits?

Your existing audit reports remain accessible. You can purchase additional audits from the pricing page at any time.

Can I share the PDF report with my team?

Yes. The PDF is yours to share however you like - with colleagues, stakeholders, board members, or your agency.
